Synopsis: “The Terror: Infamy,” helmed by showrunner Alexander Woo (“True Blood”), is a haunting and suspenseful series set in Japanese internment camps during World War II. The story centers on a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese-American community, and a young man’s journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible. The series features a cast and crew with a number of personal connections to this historical time, starting with George Takei, who lived in two internment camps as a child, is on board as a series regular and consultant. The lead character is played by Derek Mio, a fourth generation Japanese American, whose grandfather lived on Terminal Island and was sent to Manzanar internment camp after Pearl Harbor. Mio also recently appeared in “Medal of Honor,” (Netflix docu-series) where he portrayed WWII Medal of Honor Recipient Hiroshi Miyamura. Adding to the deep connection to the story, director Josef Kubota’s grandfather was in Hiroshima when the atomic bomb dropped and managed to survive.
